Commercial legal leaders face shifting expectations as AI transforms contracts and deal velocity. This event will bring together in-house counsel overseeing revenue and vendor contracting to explore advisory practices in the midst of increasing demands for speed and operational efficiency.
Participants will discuss how they are reshaping commercial strategies for the modern tech company, influencing the design of legal workflows, and utilizing external counsel. We will also examine how Legal can remain tightly connected to internal stakeholders, particularly when customer negotiations create tension.
Â
This event is intended to provide practical insight and a trusted peer network for leaders shaping the next generation of commercial legal work.
Â
Forums are half-day events designed for industry or speciality peers, featuring at least two interactive content sessions and a social activity.Â
Â
This Forum is designed for senior in-house leaders who manage the commercial function at publicly-traded or large private companies. By invitation only.
-> To Build and Not to Buy: Rethinking Your Legal Tech Stack: A look at what's actually earning its keep in your legal tech stack versus what's being cut for duplicated functionality. Evaluates build-vs-buy decisions in an environment where rumors that "SaaS is dead" continue to swirl.
-> Hiring for the AI-Enabled Legal Team: Explores how AI skills are becoming increasingly required of the commercial lawyer, how new in-house hires can complement or disrupt existing workflows, and how team leaders are meeting new AI mandates from leadership.
-> The Legal Intake Model: Keeping Cool during Cross-Functional Engagement: Addresses the people-management side of legal: handling constant status pings and escalations, coaching teams to navigate persistent stakeholders without friction, and setting realistic expectations across cross-functional partners.
-> What Ever Happened to the Commercial Lawyer?: A discussion on the evolving value proposition of the commercial lawyer in the AI era. Centers on differentiating yourself through "human in the loop" judgment, relationship capital, and risk calibration.
We expect sessions at this Forum to be eligible for CLE credit. Credit hours are estimated and are subject to each state’s approval and credit rounding rules. This course is appropriate for experienced attorneys only. The L Suite has been certified by the New York State Continuing Legal Education Board and the State Bar of California as an Accredited Provider of continuing legal education. Additionally, we will seek CLE accreditation in IL, WA, FL, TX, PA, CO, GA, and any of the other 50 states upon specific request from an attendee.
